| Achromatic State of Mind |

I feel like I should explain my recent bout of achromatism. I’ve started a new art series where I am looking at the simply form, texture and shape, rather than colour and emotion. I believe art should have a meaning an a purpose, even if that meaning and purpose is that it has no meaning or purpose. If you make art for art’s sake, then you’re just going through the motions and not learning from the art. If you take pictures in colour simply for the sake of having them in colour then you’re wasting my visual space.

I awoke this morning to discover I have finally made it to the 500 Followers Club. I know that might not be a big thing to some people, but it is to me. It’s kind of overwhelming to think that there’s an individual person behind each of those numbers and even more humbling every time someone likes or comments on my photos. I must admit when I began my instagram adventure a few months ago, I was a little hesitant to put down my film & digital cameras and hours of photo editing time, but soon came to embrace mobile photography as another expression of who I am and what my life is all about. For me, instagram is more that just another social networking app; it’s an outlet of artistic expression, a community of talented people, and a fun way to discover more about the world I live in and the people who live in it. I am so thankful for all the likes, comments, feedback and inspiration that I get on a daily basis. Here’s to another 500. Cheers friends! (Taken with Instagram)
